Christmas Light Spools & Light Strings

All American Christmas Co carries a large selection of light spools and stringers to complete any lighting job big or small. In addition to lighting homes and businesses, light spools can be used to make custom strings for holiday parties and events such as weddings or proms.

We carry a variety of Christmas light strings in both C7 and C9 styles, as well as Christmas light spools. With light spools, you can simply cut the wire and install plugs as needed to fit your application. Keep in mind, however, that our C7 and C9 Christmas Light Strings, 500 and 1000 foot Spools do not include bulbs. All wire is 18 Gauge unless noted. We do not custom cut our spools.

Christmas Light Strings and Spools Info:

• The majority of Christmas light wire handles 7 amps, so always be aware of the wires Amps rating. This means you can put a maximum of 7 amps (or 770 watts) on that run of wire before starting a new line from a different power source. You need to know all the numbers of the lights and wire before hanging your lights, C7 bulbs are usually 5 watts and C9 are typically 7 watts. Here's some simple math that will help the power calculations go quick
  
  (Bulb Wattage) x (Number of Bulbs) = Total Wattage, (Total Wattage) ÷ 110 (Volts) = Amps
  
  Example:
  
  5 Bulb Wattage x 100 Bulbs = 500 Watts, 500 Watts ÷ 110 Volts = 4.55 Amps


• So what exactly is Spt-1 or Spt-2? In a nutshell, it refers to the insulation rating. They are both 18-gauge wire because the copper on the inside of the insulation is the same size, but Spt1 has less insulation than Spt2. Spt1 handles approximately 7 amps, while Spt2 handles 10. Which one you need to go with depends on the application; generally if you don’t need long runs of wire Spt-1 works, and if you are using LED Christmas Bulbs there's no real need to step up to Spt-2 because LEDs use very little power. If you need to get the most footage out of your wire, or are running higher wattage bulbs, Spt-2 is the better choice. Just remember all the electrical hardware (plugs and replacement sockets) need to match the wire rating to function properly.


• All American Christmas Co. offers light strings and spools for both C7 and C9 bulbs. Christmas light strings come in either green or white, wire with varying bulb counts/footage: the normal strings come in 25', 50', and 100' but other options are available in limited runs.
  
  Light strings do not include bulbs, but do come with plugs installed. Christmas light spools are rolls of socketed wire with no plugs, and include a variety of bulb spacing, and either 500’ or 1000' spools on green, white, or black wire. For larger lighting projects, spools save you money in the end.
  
  In addition, you can make lengths that perfectly fit your needs. Our quick connect plugs (sometimes called Vampire or Zip plugs) slide on in seconds, so making custom wire really only requires some wire cutters, you won't even need a screwdriver!
